This history was researched and compiled to mark the amalgamation of Warroo Shire into the larger Roma (later Maranoa) Regional Council. Many themes, stories and facts are touched upon, covering 162 years from first European contact in April 1846 until March 2008, when the separate Shire disappeared. This book gives a flavour of life in Warroo, documenting something of the early settlers, important milestones in the Shire’s history, and changing economic pursuits. The research was based on files and documents at Queensland State Archives and the State Library of Queensland, the extensive resources held at the Cobb & Co Changing Station in Surat, and files of the former Warroo Shire Council.
