The 22 Who Fell

By Judith Nissen

The 22 Who Fell
  • Publisher: The Brisbane Club
  • Available in: A4 soft cover; 74pp; colour illustrated
  • Published: 11/10/2016

An honour board in the Brisbane Club lists the names of 22 who did not return from service in the Great War. The mini biographies in this book tell of the service of these young men, and the human loss to families, communities and the nation behind the unimaginable statistics of that War. There is heroism and sacrifice, but also boredom and stoicism. Each young soldier’s individual story is drawn from Club and government archives, newspapers and family histories.
