To celebrate the 2001 Centenary of Federation, Stanthorpe Shire Council commissioned this collection of historical vignettes, compiled jointly with local newspaper the Border Post, to present some aspects of the Shire’s history not necessarily well known to residents and researchers. Incorporating a detailed local chronology, stories as diverse as tin mining and fruit growing, wars, wool and quarantine are told from a local perspective, illustrated by photographs, clippings and quotes from local newspapers.
